  1. Hi Kim. I was disappointed to hear about problems at the recent Badly Drawn Boy gig at the Troubadour. I was wondering if you or anyone you know was at the show. Seems out of character and a real shame. It is so rare that we get to see some of our favourites acts in North America, Teenage Fanclub, Ryan Adams, BDB. Don't understand why they would be treated poorly. Its a shame. Merry Christm...

medium iced vanilla soy latte with 2 extra shots of espresso and extra vanilla, please.
  3. Thanks for posting! Talented guy, your friend.
  4. Michael Stipe and Coldplay covered "in the sun"...not my favorite but I guess Stipe is a fan because Joseph opened for them for a bit on their last tour. Michael Stipe - Chris Martin Peter Gabriel covered it, too, but I only have the audio on that. That's not a crazy connection....Joseph was on Peter's record label for awhile and Peter sang backup a little on his first album. Here's another one of my favorites. As much as I love the stripped down versions, you really have to listen to the records because he layers and uses interesting effects....but nothing too overwhelming. God I love youtube. Anyway, he does all of his own artwork and he's just an interesting guy. My one big regret is that I dragged my friend to his show here a few years ago, we met him afterwards and now she hooks up with him when he come through town. No, I didn't want to hook up with him, he's a bit of a nutjob and I just love his talent and I've learned my lesson about these things in past years, but I get all the inside drama and have to deal with her neurosis over it all Kinda takes something away from the mystery about an artist when you know what they do in their spare time. bleh.
  5. I didn't realize this, thanks!
  6. My ex-boyfriend Tad (from when I lived in Atlanta) was heavily into them. I liked it all quite a bit, but after 5 years grew tired and then the relationship ended weirdly so I just put them aside for good. Probably should revisit their stuff, it's been long enough now. Damn, more than 10 years. Music really is the soundtrack of our lives, isn't it......
  7. When he was really young and before the guitar was painted. This song still gives me chills.
  8. Nothing to rock anyone's world, but another favorite artist of mine that I've been listening to here at work today so I thought I'd share. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u-9AMrJt7E...related&search=
  9. I would have to agree with you, Tom. His solo material doesn't rock my world, and I'm either on or off The Verve. In other words, the stuff that is great is amazing, and the stuff that isn't....well....bores me. HOWEVER, I really don't get tired of his voice, no matter what he's singing. Sometimes I just have to endure him singing less favorable tunes than other times (I do like the song I posted quite a bit, though).
  10. I just don't get tired of this beautiful voice.
  11. An alum which i used to love back in the day ... played it today- - yeah , still not bad. Why does this not surprise me? I think we probably have the same cd collections I love this album, was one of my favorites then and I still listen to it occasionally now. It's like a retro staple for me, a security blanket. Yes , i've got a good few albums like that . One that springs instantly to mind being the Los Lobos classic "Will The Wolf survive" , you into that Kim ? Yep, I always like that one too. Not love, but liked quite a bit. Did you ever get Brian Setzer's album "The Knife Feels Like Justice"? That's another one that comes to mind. I'm really enjoying the new Son Volt one , best thing Jays done for a while. And that's saying something, if you ask me!!
  12. Yep, Aussies. They are definitely the harder edge of what I like and I don't think most on this board are prone to listen to any of it. Well, maybe Mags. In other words, I don't see it in your heavy rotation next to the Shins But I'm so excited to think of a new album and tour that I could....well....uh....never mind. Shackahoy---Bernard Fanning's solo album IS really good, I almost commented on that because I think you'd like it. Has a twangy feel that we both seem to like quite a bit.....different from the PF stuff but there is a thread of it in some of their tracks if you listen.
  13. Yay yay and yay again....the new Powderfinger song and video was posted on their myspace site last week. Not that I expect anyone else to be excited by this, but at least this gives me a forum in which to share the love...... I think these guys just rock, and Bernard Fanning has such an incredible voice. They recorded the damned thing down Sunset street from me in Feb/Mar, but hell if I ever had the time to try to track them down in a pub or otherwise. I hear they went out quite a bit. And say that I would have succeeded? Then what? I'm going to be a good girl and wait for the tour like everyone else. First single sounds good so far.... ...and an older favorite... (I hate how the credits come in at the end of this tv performance, but it's the best version I've found) Powderfinger_Kim's favorite song of their's ever
