Without wanting to get too evangelical about it: if you're remotely unsure about John solo, do yourself a favour and get to one of these gigs absolutely brilliant last night not a duff tune in the set; very supportive audience; very relaxed band; fantastic. PS it was also £9.90 for six bottles of Bud in that pool bar before hand: credit crunch drinking - great!

Didn't pick up on these initially: but as I remember it, Songs of the Free was massive, at least in that little HMV on Lord Street, so bought it then (on the strength of the display in the window) and still like it enough to have picked up the cd reissue a year or so ago.
