  1. Two Stella and some Monster Munch please mate...

  2. Reckon you're in for a treat tonight Nick... would love to do it all over again this evening... Im listening to the Dave Monks session too - have played Carnival about 6 times already...
  3. Sorry, puctures arent that great, maybe some of the others got some better ones...
  4. So, where do I start...? Another top evening out - just back home now but still buzzing, saluting... The evening started innoxiously enough, with HKP, Lord Kev of Mac, Bert and myself playing what can only be described as "special needs" Pool before we met up with Mr Sean Flynn and his Boing Boing Baggie mate and Ben/Den/Ten/Jen (?) - sorry the music was loud - a lurker from these parts who was a more than welcome addition to the fold... After marvelling at the fact that Bert had his Mum's Ugg boots on we wandered down to the Academy to be met by possibly the worst support band since, well, The Drellas. A kind of public school Jonas Brothers playing Beatles covers - Simon Cowell would have had a fucking field day. Had his ears not bled him to death... John was very magnanimous - but that was mainly because he wandered in after they had finsished... Discussion beforehand was about the evening feeling like a new dawn (day?) - almost a pre season friendly vibe - where John was free to play without the (relative) pressures of a shack set... And he didn't disappoint. A very relaxed John and Friends played a beautiful set - warming to the task song by song. A crowd much north of the 18 or so from Brum lapped it up and - whilst not rammed full the Academy was well populated. Numbers only reduced slightly after John requested Sean Flynn be ejected for requesting the Z Cars theme... Set was :- Carnival 1967 Butterfly New Day Metro Weeping Willow Loaded Man John II - (now rechristened "That One") Miles Apart Cornish Town -- Crocodile(s) 1967 again Just beautiful. Post gig met up with another shacknetter who may or may not have been WingedEel fella...and best of all, honorary shacknetter of the evening - Andy Diagram, who as far as I am concerned is an absolute legend. Not to mention a top lad...who seemed made up about John's moment in the spotlight. Kev asked about the (slim) potential of some more Pale Fountains action. The response? "There's no more Palies, not without Biffa..." And to be honest, with John on this form I think the void is filled. PS - I did get some photos, but my phone is shite for pics and from where I was standing they make John look like Mickey Mouse. You'll know what I mean after I post them up in the morning...
  5. Cheers Steve... Hopefully I'll have something as good to say tonight. Have a good holiday fella...
