  1. I'll join you for some musical snobbery (no Travis, Queen or Spandau fuckin Ballet) but I'm not so sure about the noncing But if you can be bothered I'll have a double shot capuccino and a warm Almond Croissant guv. I like a double espresso with a dash of milk, in south west France known as 'Une Noisette'. Lovely. It's a coffee shop not a travel agent.
  2. I had a cookie from Waitrose the other day- my housemate's girlfriend had bought them- anyway, it was awesome. Went in to buy some the other day and they were about 3 quid for 4. I'm surprised they don't charge you to get in at that gaff. Quality costs. The mince pies at 42p each are the best by far as is most of the stuff from the bakery, the French bread flour rolls are awesome. A girl I work with poped in to our local one on Saturday as I told her she would get a green curry paste she was looking for in there. She spent £27 and was still raving about the quality/choice this morning even though she also wishes it was cheaper. I'd rather spend more and buy less, there is more pleasure in eating a small amount of something really good than a whole load of something inferior. .....and if anyone thinks I'm just being flash cos I can afford it, PM me and I'll tell you the truth about what I earn. I'm just choosey where I spend my pittance! I'm inclined to agree Steve, but then that's because despite being skint, I am essentially a posh boy. Buying things from the deli is actually quite cost effective if you're just buying a single serving for one person. As you say, the bread is spot on, and they do a very nice onion and cheddar dip that has become a bit of a favourite tipple of mine.

  4. A world class post encapsulating the white, constipated rage of a man attempting DIY. Women, the don't understand (I'm only kidding really...).
  5. Weird when he was in Electronic he played loads of guitar. I think Barney Sumner was a bit disappointed in that, thought Karl was going to get the old knitting needles and electro drums out. 'Raise the pressure' is not a bad record though, 'for you' possibly Johnny Marrs finest post Smiths guitar line? 'Spitting Venom,' on the latest Modest Mouse album'd give it a run for it's money. There's a few cracking bits of guitar on there actually. I like the riff on 'dashboard' as well. Yes, there are some 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' moments on that song.

  7. I reckon that's what Phil's Mum must have assumed. We bought his parents house from them years ago and we're still trying to put to rights all the fucks up caused by them. We've started talking about doing a cursory patch up job and flogging it cos it just eats money. Beautiful house but I'm getting sick of it now cos we've never been able to actually enjoy it. Elderly ladies are particularly shocking when it comes to that sort of thing- they just assume that you are capable of doing various chores and that you are willing to do them. They are then often incredibly ungrateful. When my granny lived up the road in Andover my dad and I would go and see her with my mum, and within seconds of arriving we'd be given a list of chores.
  8. Just watched a brilliant documentary about Scott Walker, in which Brian Eno said that the fact that to this day bands are lauded as original when they're only just discovering Walker, Roxy Music and Talking Heads is 'a disgrace really', and I have to say I found myself agreeing.
  9. Fucking right. I don't see the point in listening to the likes of Bloc Party et al when you can just listen to these.
  10. Korrect !! Does it make much difference? It occurred to me that singing in English with their funny accents actually helps with the robot schtick... i buy kraftwerk lps in both tongues - but if you listen to the mix (uk & de) next to each other theres no difference. kraftwerk are just the kings v. Or kaisers, depending on what language you're listening in.
