Hard to better, I have to agree. Girls "Father Son Holy Ghost" is also excellent, and i've only been living with Real Estate's new one for a week or so. That is ace too.

Now where are those tracks of the year please?

Here's one that I think really stands out as an amazing track, I didn't get on too well with the rest of the album.

An obvious choice from me I guess but 'Lucky now' from the new Ryan Adams is outstanding.

My most played is, however, 'Alabama Pines' by Jason Isbel, Jason's three albums have been the soundtrack to all our travels this year.

without any hesitation. The record that stands head and shoulders above everything for me this year. And i tell you what, possibly of the last ten or twenty is Wu lyf go tell fire to the mountain. The sound, the feel, the call. I think its an incredible piece of work. Read the review on pitchfork and have a listen and if you get chance try catch em live. I think they divide opinion but Im firmly in the world unite camp

i love the fact its a cardboardy wooden sleeve with a beta band type cover art and internals. You can tell its recorded they way it is, live and in a huge expanse of a building i.e a church. The pipe organ, the drumming the guitar sound and the build of the songs. Some of the lyrics are incredible but the singer is illegible. With the album sleeve in your hand and reading the lyrics, thank yous etc its a real old fashioned newness, a great modern do it yourself album. I would put some of the lyrics in the great lyrics thread but Im on my phone. The gutteral growl of the singer i dont think i would normally get but i just do with these. Its got its grip on me bud. Can fully understand why you dont like it tho.

Low - C'mon

Morton Valence - Me And Home James

I'll have to think about tracks of the year but to kick me off I'll go for Especially me by Low. Check out the video

Am I allowed to pick one of my own songs? :)

Gil Scott Heron & Jamie XX - We're New Here - has slow burned its way under my skin and has now become my fave for 2011. I bought the original (I'm New Here in 2010) and loved it/played it to death, but this remix version just breathes a different wind in to a classic. I'm not normally one for remixes so this review tells its own story.

It's a great album although it divides opinion on here.

Sadly though it doesn't belong to this topic...it was released in 2010.

It was released in mid-January 2011.

And it's the best Scouse music I've heard since Miles And Gil (The Coral are wools aren't they).
