Just watched The Joy of Country. Excellent as was The Joy of Easy Listening last week. I fuckin love the BBC. Now excuse me whilst I watch Bobby Gentry, Charley Pride, Dolly, Emmylou Harris, Charlie Rich et al at the BBC.

BBC 4 on a Friday night is worth the licence fee alone, quality stuff.

Worth it to see Handsome Family and Jon Langford getting some airtime on top of the 'legends'. Would have topped it off nicely if they'd played some of their stuff

bbc4 later this evening, The Undertones thing, no idea what its like, but its sure to be good.

probably record it & watch it tomorrow, still off booze (till tomorrow) & i've never seem them sober in 35 odd years & i'm not about to start now.

being off drink for 2 weeks reminds me of the old joke - clean living dosent make you live any longer but it sure as fuck feels like it.

the ecstacy live programme tonight was pretty good. watched it with my son who;s not far off sixteen. he cant even swallow a headache tablet so i hope im ok there. he would never dream that his old dad sat by his side has ever taken anything! it was funny sat watching it and trying not to give anything away.i was nodding knowingly at some stuff but he never noticed.

you can see how much the people who took it really liked it except for the ex sas man. i bet they cant wait to take it on a night out without the scanner.

as a few on here know it s always been my drug of choice, i dont like any other. dont like spliff or coke and i wouldnt dare take heroin. its not like i take it a lot, only a few times a year but when its good its just.. so bleeding good! i think any drug or drink have got to be recreational or occasional but thats down to the individual.

ive always thought that when someone smokes a spliff in the morning and during the day thats the same as someone drinking in the morning and during the day. your hooked when that happens. ive been lucky that i can do excess but i know the boundaries.

anyway, in the right environment etc ecstacy is absolutely fuckin ace!! brilliant. good to see the positives tonight and we all know the negatives..... the expert who was saying it s dangerous and makes some people aggressive etc, well that sounds like any drug and any drink. its down to the individual obviously and how they handle it. 20 deaths a year is more than i thought. quite shocked by that statistic.

so im 45 and god knows when i might stop taking it but i reckon a little bit of what you like now and again is a good thing. maybe i'll light up the dancefloor doing a bez shuffle off me tits in a retirement home or maybe i'll sit listening to andy williams. who knows.

and this goes no further. dont think theres too much traffic on here or customs passing by......... but i have had a lot of good and a lot of bad over the years and a mate of mine has err, made some absolute beauties that i road tested last month. might be a bit sad coming from a 45 year old dad but, heres what happened. he asked me how good they were and i said they are the best i have had for nearly 20 years. he said 'would you put your name on them? and i said yeah. so coming into production shortly will be a pill so good its got my name on it.

i would insert a smiley face at this point but its not working. and dont ask for any! its not ebay, its a music site.

That's ace that man, having a drug named in your honour. Unfortunatey for me ALL drugs I encounter have my name all over them, well, in my head anyway. Quality work Danny, that's about as classy as you get in my book. Looking forward to catching that documentary as well when it finally surfaces online later. Although I could do without Keith Allen fuckin gurning at me for an hour like. Sounds interesting though, and hey, feel free to stick us one of those 'Dannys' in the mail chief!

Fairly sure the stats speak for themselves regarding Ecstacy/MDMA - very few deaths/serious health problems from their use. They were basically categorised class A cause they were so good.

Has long been my "tipple" of choice, think they suit us older folks cause you stay in control (a friend slipped comming out of a bar 6 months ago - ok she was pissed as fuck - but a fall that would have cause a few cuts & bruises in her 20s, now in her mid 40's has left her in a wheel chair with her leg totally smashed up).

Of course if you abuse the stuff it will fuck you over but sure so does everything.

Have long thought that ageing men should have their own Ecstacy based version of HRT, why should women of a certain age have all the fun.

I like the sound of a male-menopause drug that's based around MDMA. I'd be having some of that, although I'm still having trouble shaking off the image of old people freaky dancing in elasticated pants and wooly cardigans after what Danny said. The image is haunting me man. Speaking of being a clumsy get when drunk, I fell over hammered a couple of years ago and managed to break my arm in 24 places, proper spannered it and had to have it all rebuilt with steel rods and shit. it's definitely an age thing as 20 years ago I'd have bounced straight back up onto my feet glass in hand. Getting old... It's not all it's cracked up to be is it.

"Lillyhammer". It's kind of quirky (i.e. lots of sub-titles) and it has Little Steve as a mobster (obviously not afraid of typecasting).

Citizen Khan

Possibly funnier for those of us that live in the area but I liked it a lot.

Mad Men Series 2

Mad Men is excellent. Puts smoking back on the social map. Also prompted me to sound out HR about the directives preventing me getting a drinks cabinet installed in my office. You got to the lawnmower scene yet?

Good Cop.

Really enjoyed it and the main fella reminded me a bit of a younger Mick Head.

Agreed, although Tillbrook's beard was ridiculous.

Knew the beard would get a mention on here!
