RIP Gore Vidal. A giant of a writer and in an age of "dumbing down" (especially in the USA), I don't think that we will see the like of him again.

Fave novel by him? "Lincoln"

Myra Breckinridge for me (err the book not individual), was a bit of an eye opener when I read it.

Hope he doesent end up a writer that everyone quotes but nobody reads, I fear there's every chance.

Never have or probably ever will read any of his essays/books. Over the years that I saw him I liked his patter.

Peace, Love and Rock'n'Roll.

Read maybe 4-5 of his fiction & while good they became a bit repetitive (& if I'm honest all a bit too weird & gay - dare I say it - for me) but thought a collection of essays called "The Pink Triangle" was very good & worth reading if you feel the other stuff would freak you out.
