probably considering that was them over performing - with each competition the pool of English players playing regular first team football in "the greatest league in the world" gets smaller & it will probably get worse.

i thought the back five were very good on the whole. Johnson had a great tournament as did Cole terry lescott and hart. Terry Will retire soon as Will Cole. Our midfield got murdered apart from when gerard bossed it against Sweden. Parker tries. Milner is shit rooney was terrible and the rest are just not good enough. Ashley young was a fuckin joke with the ball. Apart from a 15 minute spell against the Italians i dont think we ever looked dangerous in all four matches. The future looks very very bleak for English football

At times, especially during the qualifying matches I thought we looked like an average Sunday pub league side, which I take no pleasure in saying. Rooney was shite, terrible first touch and although praise was heaped on Carroll for his goal, how many times did he manage to pass with any accuracy? Overpriced and over-rated. I was swearing at the telly with regularity for Scott Parker to be taking off during the Italy match. Again, shite. The young lads with pace are the future for England if you ask me.

Jones, Cleverly,Wiltshire ect may be the future of English football (or at least according to the press they are) but they've got to start being vital parts of their club sides first.
If Walcott's progress is anything to go by, its going to be a fucking long haul
If Walcott's progress is anything to go by, its going to be a fucking long haul

that's a big ask how about which ENGLAND team was any good? Here's mine
1966 and 1972 Alf's world cup team
1990 Bobby's world cup team once Captain Marvel and Ray 'the crab; Wilkinson had been replaced by Peter Reid and Glen Hoddle.
1996 El Tels marvels...
and thats it guys the rest have been shit whether the Premiership was full of BRITS and Irish or as now full of rest of the world players.
and a cheap shot from a blue nose... a quarter of the squad came from the teram that finished 8th in the table so what did you expect? and any of youse who have watched Roys west brom and Fulham should have known that the foote would be shit.

of course there was never a golden age, but less choice cant be good, just look at Scotland.
Couldent understand the inclusion of Downing (terrible season) Henderson (very average) or Carroll (handful of good games) or the other fella Kelly ??? - shows a terrible lack of imagination.
