I've got a list of seven New Years Resolutions which I am going tae start tomorrow (In fact in about 2 minutes when I get to bed at a seriously indecent time. four hours earlier than what has become the norm). The other six will be difficult, however my reckoning is that I've got more chance of achieving them if I can jump the two massive hurdles of Christmas and New Year and the rest of the home run will be a doddle. Queer logic but I'm giving it a bash.

Allways so many things need changing - lose weight, drink less, change job, smile more, hate less, accept the unchangable, become the person of our aspiration...good luck Gordon, if you find a way to make it all work, let us know.

I'm not waiting for New Year to start the health kick - I saw the pictures my friend took of our gig on Thursday night and I didn't realise how wobbly I was, I obviously knew I'd put weight on because I had to go up a jeans size in the summer but I kidded myself that I still looked ok and I really don't. Being short has some benefits but the ability to carry excess weight well is definitely not one of them.

I plan to give up smoking. Again. I hate it. I feel guilty every time I smoke, yet it's the first thing I do when I put the kids to bed. Like Noel Gallagher, I can't smoke in front of them. It's mainly an alcohol related addiction to me, they go hand in hand and I suppose that my average 2-3 fags a day isn't a major habit, but I'm so fed up with it. I guess i better drink less in 2009 in order to break the habit.

Finishing my best of 2008 mix. It's becoming something of an ordeal.

Well, if I can do it after many, many years of trying (and 30 plus years of smoking) anyone can. Good luck with it and if anyone has any suggestions for losing the 2 stone I've put on in 6 months since packing the oily rags in, let me know.

I bought this book about 8 years ago. It's a bit corny but it did the trick and got me into running. It's good for the soul too.

I've got two left in the pack and i'm packing in after Christmas, a pact has been made.
Do I say frig it and pack in now, or do I have one last pack and ease myself into it?
