I wonder is it the same version as the fable demos? If you go on the main site and find the "10 years on..." article with the NME cover. Click on the picture and there is a secret link to the fable demos within which is a version of Lavender Way.

Lavender Way has been redone for Mick's new album.

Closer, and it's incorporated Lavender Way, is one of my all time faves.

The amount of stuff that Mick could re-do that has never been released must be stacking up now - wasn't there an alternative version of Black & White that morphed with Comedy?

I've heard it quite a few times over the years - one thing I can't remember is if the early version of Black & White is the same song that emerged on Miles & Gil...

Black & White pt 2 is sometimes played straight out of Comedy. There's a couple of live recordings and radio sessions of it. Apparently it was first written and demoed around the time of "Here's Tom...". It came from a jam they endlessly did whilst watching news footage at the start of the second Gulf War on a black and white TV which explains the lyrics. Maybe it precedes the Black & White on Miles & Gil so is called part 1? Not sure.
