and belle and daddys girl..i think thats it for the role call............a great shacknet presence for a good cause, nice of john and the t`others to give their time up for the brink football team, its a great place and most commented on that....i`d been watchin the match so i had a great seat at the front and was gonna take some shiftin for the night,ta for keepin me ticket p.j....i haven`t had a bad time in the brink, film night is great and i sometimes have me tea there and wind the weekend down, even the people you see regular there soon become friendly....spent a good time talkin to matt about this that and erm..the other, but it was fantastic to watch the various shacknetters wanderin through the door,we never get together much these days,as a collective but one thing never changes, its that you feel comfortable with these friends of the internet and take up where you left off,it could been 2-3 years ago,as they go about their dailys, the kids,jobs...livin it....many things were spoken about, lost stuff, found stuff, things that coulda been, shoulda been...and now...........seekmagic spinnin the tunes that are now at least,a welcome part of my life...its music isn`t it,we need that.....so to john, pin drop quiet except for the bar staff, who john recognised where just doin their job,it didn`t detract from anything as he put in his finest performance i`ve ever seen anyway,he started off with a meandering dialogue about leonardo davinci and then went on to share a few stories about arthur in the lead up to 1967,we love this stuff..and its testament to how more comfortable he feels up there now,in the spotlight ..he seemed quite embarressed about how much he was talkin,i`m suremost of us could listen to it all night,as we share their adventure....in his own right he has come on leaps and bounds and these songs are worthy to see the light of day and its something we would dearly want to own and spend our hard earnt on......but in the set are four shack songs but evolved slightly, trhe finger pickings works a dream on loaded man but they are johns songs so he has every right to play them, its not as if he hasn`t got enough material to play all new stuff, shack in their infance and even towards the end of the pale fountains, suffered i think for not playin older stuff,it was a decision, like the pale fountains only playin one PF song in their last shown at the royal court, the time i saw them at macmillans, when they didn`t play a song off zilch(their last output)but played a whole load of songs i hadn`t heard(waterpistol) except for the new single....and thats summit else i only heard about waterpistol from neil, who had been sent a tape from a girl in japan? anyways the past is the past, what about the future....john/mick or john & mick....who knows what the future brings....here`s the second guessin that might be a bus ride out....i think both are happy and want to keep on creatin, as we wait with weight of the uncertainty of the solo projects, there is a hope that they can continue as shack,it can be done,it does happen......a coupla of great nights at the roundhouse or summit, with decent press,backing...they have teatered on the brink in the past,a kinda relaunching maybe...the songs and performance are and have been,in that order good enough to take them somewhere else, yorkie did a great job around miles & gil time, they were gettin to instores/shows and had a few column inches....nearly,anyways old style ramble, great night...open for debate in regards to solo versus band......thanks to the brink and p.j.......another great night, was made up to see some old faces/older faces....your lookin good....

Great gig, my first time seeing him solo but better than any bootlegs I've heard. Miles Apart and Cornish Town blew me away, he's a master of his craft. I too would have happily heard him talk about the songs in more detail but he was obviously a bit shy. Look forward to more from both of the Head brothers this year.
On a side note Joanne Head (Mick & John's sister) is singing at the Blundell Street Supper Club on the 10th of May, should be a good night.

I thought it was a great night. The Brink is a really special place and everybody involved should be really proud.
Great to see everybody.
Fantastic to see John with a rapt audience. First time I'd heard Savage Brew and was really blown away.
Like others said I really enjoyed the little story about 1967 before he played it, wouldn't have minded listening to him chat a bit more.
Oh & Nick, I'm always playing records at the wrong speed... It's not as bad a crime as cueing up your next record with the volume up.

Five things I learned last night:
1. Loaded Man was recorded by accident.
2. The Brink's alcohol free supper club vibe is perfect to appreciate a John Head solo gig.
3. Savage Brew is a fantastic song.
4. The last 2 minutes of Cornish Town were worth the entrance fee alone.
5. Seven cans of Red Bull wasn't enough to keep me from almost falling asleep in my armchair towards the end of Loaded Man.

it probably needs an I.C of some description or just a bog standard inline surpressor from PRS...although john knows his stuff and said it was non fan related and down to the monitor,an on the spot reporter said john has been overheard to say"i`ve been in this business a long time, and its not the fan"
